Why we apply lime. Lawns need lime when low soil pH starts inhibiting the availability of nutrients. Most grasses prefer soil pH between 5.8 and 7.2. When within preferred pH ranges, the nutrients grasses need most — including added nitrogen from lawn fertilizers — stay available for grass to use. When pH strays too far in either direction, even plentiful nutrients are restricted. Lime restores balance in overly acidic soil to bring pH back to optimal growing levels.

Why do we offer core aeration? Aeration is the key to having the healthiest turf. Aeration breaks up soil compaction and thatch to improve overall plant health, increase root development, support disease resistance and increase water retention.
We recommend the addition of overseeding your lawn to maximise the benefits of the aeration.

In the northeast, fall is the best time for overseeding and spot seeding a lawn. The soil is still warm and the air is cooler. There is less competition from warm weather weeds. Fall also gives the grass time to get established before the weather gets too cold.
